Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian: There is so much fun ambiguity between these two, like, wwx’s father was jc’s father’s subordinate, wwx promised to always be his right hand, they grew up together, are they like brothers, servant and master, childhood friends, pining lovers, all of the above??? And it’s all exacerbated by how these two would rather be stabbed than talk things out. There are so many perceived and imaginary boundaries they draw and do not cross even if they clearly hold each other very dearly. I love how they don’t communicate anything ever <3 I think pre-sunshot and post-canon are both prime periods to explore their relationship, pre-sunshot at lotus pier always together, the Yunmeng Shuangjie but also with the divide between them of Jiang Cheng's parents love and hatred for Wei Wuxian, both which poisons and complicates things. And then post-canon, with a lifetime of mistakes and broken promises between them...
Wen Ning and Wei Wuxian: The living weapon and the one who wields him is always just such a good trope. It’s about Wen Ning’s continual devotion and unquestioning loyalty, even helping wwx after the destruction of Lotus Pier. In the end, he’d even tried to sacrifice himself to try and protect him. Wei Wuxian attempted the impossible and succeeded in bringing Wen Ning back from the dead, conscious and himself. In life Wen Ning was meek and overlooked by Wei Wuxian saw him and commended his archery abilities, in death Wei Wuxian gave him the strength the get revenge on his killers. Wen Ning, the loyal Ghost General, serving a master who does not want to fight, just farm turnips. Wen Ning, the loyal blade to someone who is hurtling towards his own self destruction. And then- after everything, after dying- Wei Wuxian comes back and the only ones left from those days in the Burial Mounds are them and Lan Sizhui, who only has hazy memories of it.
And tough then there's way Wei Wuxian worries what Wen Ning will do post-canon, what else can he do but follow Wei Wuxian? Yet Wen Ning does find his own path to walk. Love the agency/lack of agency with these two!!

Benichidori and Hien: What really highlights these two’s relationship for me is the comic where Benichidori snaps and calls Hien ugly, but she laughs and says if she wore makeup she’d become too beautiful! And it stuns her so much that they become friends who can say anything to eachother. And in their work, they’re always side by side, they’ve been through a lot and have to have a lot of trust in each other.
Inutade and Izutsumi: These two are so just so sweet to me as the two “monsters” of the group, they have a camaraderie the others don’t have. Inutade supports Izutsumi and is overjoyed when she hears she escaped, Izutsumi’s prickly nature means she isn’t open about her feelings, is hardly ever straightforward but deep down she cares about her friends.
Marcille Donato and Falin Touden: I think so much of their relationship ambiguity stems from Marcile being SO Repressed. She’s shown in canon to have regressive views like ‘oh women should always have long hair’ and ‘orc = bad, elves = good’ etc, so I think she’s someone who can’t comprehend that girls can romantically like girls. And Falin, she’s just happy to finally have someone in her life who is her friend, who will eat meals together with her, who stays.
Marcille Donato and Laios Touden: These two are ride or dies to me. Marcille might complain but she’s always there by his side and he’s always unquestioning next to hers. Oh Marcille knows necromancy! Awesome! Oh Laios you want to eat monsters? YUCK but it surely is better than post-poning the mission. They’ve always got each others backs
Shuro and Laios Touden: I love these two dearl the culture-clash they go through. Laios was bullied by others but Shuro is so kind! His first friend! Meanwhile Toshiro is just being polite by his culture’s standards, and now Laios can’t read social cues and is clingnig to him. But despite all of this- he’s jealous and in awe how Laios always speaks his mind, open minded yet single track in his determination. It’s a fun and complicated dynamic

Liu Mingyan and Ning Yingying and Sha Hualing: For these three, their dynamic is so fascinating to me because in another life they were all to be the wives of a man who arguably didn’t even love them at all, amounted only to be objects of PIDW’s audience sexualization or vitriol. And now in SVSSS they become their own people, standing on their own with their own identities outside of just being “the protagonist's wife.” I think especially post-canon stuff with them is fun to explore.
Liu Mingyan and Sha Hualing: Most of my same thoughts as the above, I love the contrast of “Binghe’s pure and good wife” with “the viscous seductive wife. But specifically for these two I do love Liu “canonically writes extremely dead dove porn” Mingyan and Sha “canonically describes using her claws and is violent during sex” Hualing. Peak freak4freak
Original Luo Binghe and Shen Yuan: THESE TWO they make me so ill. The boundaries of the reader who loves the protagonist of a story he cannot stand, so he reads it all, he obsesses over it, he is infamous and well known in the forums. I really love the “Bingge transmigrates/uses xin mo to find his own Shen Yuan” trope. But there’s also the way that, Bingge doesn’t truly understand love or probably even friendship, where in stallion novels all other male characters are pathetic weak cowards to contrast the perfect protagonist, or they are despicable villains for the protagonist to destroy.
Liu Qingge and Shen Yuan: Liushen make me feel so many things, just. Liu Qingge and the way he had no idea he was destined to die, who know lives as living proof of the narration deviating. Lu Qingge, who always brings back Shen Qingqiu’s fans, who takes him on missions during the years Shen Qingqiu was mourning Binghe, who fought for years to steal back Shen Qingqiu’s body. And there’s Shen Qingqiu who refuses to acknowledge he’s gay but also finds Liu Qingge the most beautiful man he’s ever seen, and always trusts him to be there when he calls out for help.

Feng Xin and Xie Lian: These two are so fascinating to me with the contrasts between Xianle Era, post-Xianle war, and than with canon and post-canon. They were once guard and royal, Feng Xin stayed afterwards even when Mu Qing left, but in the end, Xie Lian told him to leave and he did. And as a martial god, he’s described as spending lots of time in the mortal world… probably searching for Xie Lian, then taking up the disguise of Nan Feng to help him when Xie Lian ascended. There’s so much devotion and pain
Jun Wu and Xie Lian: THESE TWO they make me so ill :D it’s about the obsession, it’s the paternalistic role Jun Wu takes as the heavenly emperor and Xie Lian looks up to him, the way he tries to groom Xie Lian into his successor (and ohh the Implications of the Temple Scene where Xie Lian was tied down and stabbed). I think at the end of the day, these two are deeply lonely and want someone to stay for once. They were both left behind by everyone they trusted, two princes once beloved by all turned into disgraces. Jun Wu wants to make someone who will understand him, look upon him without judgment, and he will go to any length to achieve this. I love the toxicity!!
Xie Lian and Yin Yu: For these two, I think there’s so much room to explore with them. They were both once gods, then shackled and felled for mistakes not wholly their own. Xie Lian was set up by Jun Wu, Yin Yu put into the Brocade Immortal mess because of Jian Yu’s meddling. Yet now heaven ridicules their names. I think there’s a lot there have in common (plus I feel like Yin Yu probably knows Way Too Much about Xie Lian after working for Hua Cheng for so long XD)
Quan Yizhen and Yin Yu: I love how messy these two are! Quan Yizhen with his sincere love for his shixiong but his own lack of tact driving a continuous wedge between them. Yin Yu, who tried to be the kind shixiong and support Quan Yizhen until it all came to an awful head, telling him to kill himself. Quan Yizhen afterwards only rose higher, becoming the martial god of the west, while Yin Yu fell into the ranks of Ghost City working for a Supreme Ghost King. But even at the end, while Yin Yu screamed that he hated him, he still risked his life to try and save Quan Yizhen. There’s just so much admiration, jealousy, love, hatred between them

Baili Qingmiao and Qiu Congxue: Of course, I love the ambiguity that comes from Shizun and disciple relationships- especially in the way the narrative places Qio Congxue in the place of where Wenren E was supposed to fall in love with her.

Luo Fumeng and Liu Qianqiao: Subordinate/master, but wlw this time. I love this trope so much haha, but it truly is about the devotion yet there is the line of power dynamics between them.
