There are so many flavors of relationship between these two over the course of the series, and all of them are good. Their initial roadtrip is the happiest point between them for a while, and then there are so many complicated feelings after Murtagh is captured/defects and they realize they’re related. I also adore how psyched Eragon is for Murtagh to come stay with him at the end of the book Murtagh.

I really enjoy how scared Murtagh is throughout much of the series and how mean it can make him, even as he’s still desperate for Eragon to recognize him as a brother. Likewise, I enjoy how Eragon is extremely adaptable to basically whatever the series throws at him. I’m open to any level of involvement for Saphira and Thorn short of actual sexual contact between humans and dragons; I really enjoy the psychic dragon bond and my favorite flavor of it is "platonic but extremely intense and weird to outsiders." (Background Saphira/Thorn is okay to include.)

I am also fascinated by an AU where they were both raised as Morzan's sons in Galbatorix's court (whether or not Eragon's actual parentage is any different). How does it alter their dynamic? Do either of them become Riders?

Aredhel and Celegorm (and Curufin): I love Aredhel as a woman who is simultaneously morally compromised (kinslaying) and sympathetic (everything else); I love Celegorm as someone who does not pretend to be less dangerous or awful than he is, even to himself; I love Curufin as a deeply proud and intelligent man. (Though some are probably less applicable to Years of the Trees-era fics, I'd love to see the first emergence of these traits.)

I feel like Aredhel and Celegorm get each other on a level that other people don’t. Has she followed in Orome’s train in the past alongside Celegorm? How did they initially click with each other? How long did it take post-Helcaraxe for Aredhel to speak to Celegorm again? I’d also love to see something set post-fleeing Eol (perhaps someone recognizes this is a situation that is going to get dangerous and decides Eol doesn’t get marital rights, actually?) or in fourth-age Valinor post-reembodiment. What are Aredhel and Celegorm like with each other? What draws Aredhel and Curufin together, particularly in the Years of the Trees era? Are they friends(etc.) through Celegorm first, or does their dynamic develop independently? (Curufin and Celegorm thoughts are below.)

Celegorm and Curufin: They are playing “I’m not touching you” with the line of what ‘counts’ as incest, I feel. I am intrigued by how they function as a tight-knit unit from essentially the beginning; we consistently hear them described together and as living on each other’s lands. At what point did that start? They also both seem willing to own up to what they’re willing to do for the Oath much sooner than their other siblings (even the ones who will go on to commit the third one after C&C are dead). Is that loyalty ever tested? I’m interested in really any era for them (Years of the Trees, early First Age, Nargothrond, post-Nargothrond pre-Doriath, post-death Valinor) and any tone that feels appropriate. I’d also be really intrigued by an incestuous but (at least originally) nonsexual kink relationship. What’s their journey towards kink discovery? I would also be really interested in a scenario where Curufin marries his canonical wife under the assumption that LACE is correct and he’ll develop sexual attraction to her once they’re married and then that just…doesn’t happen. (Whether due to asexuality or other queerness.) Does he process the fallout from that with Celegorm?

Curufin and Finrod: I’d love to see the powder keg of Nargothrond before it gets lit up! I like these two as cousins who were not necessarily close before the war intervened, and I also love Finrod as simultaneously honorable and deeply politically savvy. How accurate is the narrator of the Silmarillion about what’s happening politically in Nargothrond prior to the quest? (Years of the Trees-era Curufin and Finrod is also welcome, I just have less of an idea of what it looks like!)

Maedhros and Maglor: I think they’re playing a similar game as Celegorm and Curufin but it’s miserable and weirdly tied up with duty, at least once they're several kinslayings in. They have the potential to be gothic as fuck. They're the last two of Feanor's sons standing and I imagine that cannot have done great things for their relationship. I love the potential collapse of identity here, where it's hard to tell what they are to each other in part because all the people who used to play other roles (father, companion, wife, mother, friend, etc.) are all dead. That said, I would also love to see a lighter version of them in Valinor! (Either before or after death.)

Annatar and Celebrimbor: This is my ultimate “The love was there. It didn't change anything. It didn't save anyone. But the love was there” pairing because the love being there makes things feel so much worse. I love interpretations where whatever exists between them is (wildly unexpectedly for Sauron, who thinks feelings are for other people) genuine and affectionate, and then Sauron still goes through with choosing power anyway! What does Sauron think is real about the situation? Was he expecting Celebrimbor to be on his side post-reveal even just a little bit? Was he prepared for feeling betrayed? I like when Celebrimbor first and foremost likes Annatar as a person, mask-slips and all, in a deep and ill-advised way.

I would love to see any era for them: as strangers, early in their acquaintance/friendship/relationship, very comfortable together, torture/death, or re-embodiment/post-death. Other things I'd love to see include deep and complicated feelings (on either of their parts! What does it mean to have this Maia come out of the West and absolve you?), intimacy (in a romantic, sexual, friendly and/or it's complicated) that develops but is never acted on as far as it could be, and Sauron flipping between masks during the torture and finding none of them fit quite right (and needing to kill Celebrimbor about it). I like when Sauron-as-Annatar is flawed in ways that come across very differently without the context the reader has about who he is and where this is headed.

Please give me your headcanons for worldbuilding where necessary! I’m very open to anything regarding Celebrimbor in terms of where and when he was born, who his mother/other biological parent is, his level of complicity in the first kinslaying, and how much he knows or suspects about Sauron (though I'd prefer if he didn't suspect everything correctly in a canon-compliant fic). I would also be really, really interested in how the relationship is publicly presented. How clear is it that Celebrimbor is Annatar's favorite person? (Are there Thingol and Melian comparisons? How much does Sauron resent them?)

Celegorm and Huan: Look, for all Huan is dog-shaped he is a Maia and a person. Celegorm knows that better than anyone. Get weird with it.

Curufin and Dior: They’re both proud and killed each other(’s favorite people) and I would love to see that go weird places post-death.

Indis and Míriel: They're both queens of the Noldor and in such a unique position. I’m particularly interested in this post-Miriel’s death, whether the relationship is one-sided from Indis or after Miriel eventually decides she does want to be re-embodied. (I feel like the Valar would allow this, so long as Finwe is dead? Miriel and Finwe have just sort of swapped places, so no one alive is married to two people at once.) Did they have any kind of relationship/personal knowledge of each other prior to Miriel's death? What do they like about each other? How do they deal with both of them living in the shadow of a Miriel who no longer exists? What do their children and grandchildren (etc.) think?

Tarod is absolutely Yandros's favorite brother (and vice versa), but what does "brotherhood" actually mean for gods of Chaos?

Their dynamic drives me completely insane. The supposed villain going “we’re two sides of the same coin, you’re more like me than you think, you’ll understand eventually,” and then he’s just actually right. (Not in every aspect, admittedly! But the personal ones.) The entire time I was reading this series, I was expecting a third act betrayal from Yandros, and I am so charmed that did not happen. Yandros ultimately chooses Tarod and defers to his decision, even though he doesn’t necessarily agree with it.

I'd love to see Yandros's perspective on any of the scenes where he's talking to Tarod and isn't managing to win him over; I imagine it must be very frustrating. He’s fairly restrained about how much he misses Tarod in canon, but it’s such a disturbing and relatively long-lasting separation, compared to what they've done before. I also think there's a lot of potential for interaction in the time between books one and two, where Tarod has trapped himself in a completely empty castle that he's wrenched out of time. They literally can't get the plot moving, so what else is there to do?

I very much enjoy watching Tarod wrestle with his morality, and I would take truly so many words of it. If Yandros ever does decide to try seduction (whether or not he’s told Tarod that they’re siblings), how does Tarod take it? I would love to see him muddling through confused feelings, particularly if dream sex or shapeshifting is involved.

Post- (or pre-)canon with them both as gods is welcome as well. What are they like when there’s no misunderstandings? (If you’re interested in writing smut, I think they have had the absolute weirdest sex, at least half of which is completely unintelligible to the human brain as such.)

I love outside POV and this is a canon I think it works very well for, as humans either don’t remember or understand much about Yandros and Tarod (either as people or as gods). I think we should toss (confirmed? rumored?) incest/displays of affection into the mix and see what happens.

I have read both the prequel and sequel trilogies as well, so feel free to pull in canon from there if it's helpful and don’t worry about it if it isn’t. (I particularly enjoyed Yandros and Tarod attending human parties incognito together at the beginning of Star Ascendant.)

That last scene from “A Final Call at Forlini’s Bar” broke me in the best way possible. Barba all but outright saying “I love you” and Olivia not knowing how to process, the unresolved tension, AHH!

I love how their relationship developed over the course of the show, especially from the William Lewis arc on. I’d especially love hurt-comfort during trial prep and/or following Lewis’s second spree.

Likewise the Sheila Porter aftermath. I love “Uncle Rafa” Barba’s paternal relationship with Noah; found family vibes.

Or for Olivia comforting Barba, aftermath of the Householder case.

Staying in touch over the intervening time before Barba returns as a defense attorney; video calls. Or I can even see Barba going old fashioned with hand-written letters — very tender with palpable romantic undertones.

And then of course, I love the whole clusterfuck from the Richard Wheatley trial on. The show did an amazing job of showing how damaging it was to their relationship, but I want more!

I love entangling Ewan into Logan’s marriages, whether it’s friendship, rivalry, infidelity, love triangle, polyamory, etc. I really love the relationship being centered around Logan and both parties’ relationships to him

I definitely picture things more contentious with Caroline. She loves to stir the pot, and I can so see her antagonizing Ewan in a playfully spiteful sort of way that really gets under his skin; delighting in riling both brothers up and encouraging arguments just because she finds it entertaining (and hot). I nominated these two kind of on a whim, but I’ve become increasingly so intrigued by all the possibilities

I’m fascinated by how Colin is always in the background throughout the series. And tbh, he’s probably more faithfully and consistently “always there for” Logan more than anyone else including Logan’s family and spouses.

I’d love to know more about how the relationship got established, as well as more of Colin’s POV in general; what all has motivated him to stay this whole time?

I really love their 401 diner conversation and Logan’s very depressing failed attempt at empathy / vulneratiblty / human connection. Logan does not “do therapy” but I can see Colin ending up as a sort of de facto therapist when Logan is feeling particularly miserable/lonely

I’m definitely intrigued by the potential of funky sexual situations — Logan having a bad day, a sort of unspoken agreement for Colin providing very detached, perfunctory “handjob and an Advil” type sexual relief. I can picture Logan getting weirdly personal and divulging deeper things he otherwise wouldn’t

My thoughts about them as soon as I was leaving the cinema was that this was ambiguously a queerplatonic relationship, so I feel like they're perfectly on theme for this exchange. They love each other, they're family, but beyond that I doubt even they know (or much care about) what they are.

I'm especially interested in their canonical dynamic (although canon divergence a la no Godzilla or Noriko wasn't injured/wasn't presumed dead are welcome as well), and Akiko can be included if you want, as long as there's a focus on their relationship and not only raising a child together (but that can be a part of it). They spent years as this undetermined family, brought together by circumstances, but they chose to stay together.

For something set before the Godzilla attack, I'd love to see more of their domestic life and how they feel about this (especially if they don't know their own feelings one way or the other), and if it's after the attack, if Noriko's injuries or believing that she was dead changed things between them. In either case, helping each other deal with their trauma, or at least being there for each other despite not knowing how to help is very much welcome.

For Sephiran and Zelgius, there's that bit where they're both also obsessed with other people, and for Zelgius that obsession is the only way in which he differs from Sephiran's plans, which is absolutely fascinating to me.
With Ike and Soren, in their paired ending for 10/Radiant Dawn, he leaves with Ike, one of only two people who can do so, but there's no mention of anyone leaving with Ike in his ending crawl, it's only in Soren (or Ranulf's) notation if you get them to A support, so there's room there for the feelings to be lopsided - or not, depending on your take on it.

Maybe they are aware of it, maybe they aren't and are just indulging on it while seeing nothing wrong with it, maybe both are aware but as long it isn't said nothing is ever happening! AU works great here, although the ones close to canon are my favorites. Them bonding over Mokuba. Their rivalry pushed by Gozaburo blooming into something else, or simply trauma bonding post canon where Noah gets a body.

Their canon story is just fueled with this vibe that Gozaburo was wayyy protective and jealous of Noah as he groomed him to be his successor, and there is this line with their codependency that screams something else was going on.

- Mokuba and Noah

Post Virtual world AU where Noah gets a body and there is this tension between them. After Noah took a hold of Mokuba's body and they shared a vessel, they probably know each other way better than most people think. Mix Mokuba's lack of awareness/personal space (as he sees Noah the same way he sees Seto) and Noah's all consuming codependency...

I feel like this is such a perfect relationship for this challenge because honestly, how would you tag the CANONICAL version of this relationship? Lily/Archie/Wolfe poly V? How do you tag a Lily & Archie & Wolfe polycule/triangle with the three sides being Archie/Wolfe (romantic), Lily/Archie (sexual) and Lily/Wolfe (platonic)? I don't even know! I leave it up to you to write whatever kind of story and tag it however you want!

- I'm here for any level of Wolfe/Archie slashiness, from the sort of canonical lowkey completely unspoken queerplatonic vibe, to fully overt romance/sex. I also prefer an open relationship where Archie flirts with or dates others (OFCs, OMCs, etc.) -- again, canon, basically.

- *Canonically* speaking, Archie and Lily are in an open/poly relationship. According to the way I read it, it starts out as a committed, long-term sexual but 100% non-romantic relationship, and over decades evolves into something truly romantic but still non-monogamous and non-traditional (they don't live together, they'll never get married, etc.) which is just SO fascinating to me.

And you could say exactly same thing about Wolfe and Archie-- they are *something* to each other but there are some lines they won't cross. For both Wolfe-Archie and Archie-Lily-- How did they work out their rules or guidelines for what's okay, what's too much or not enough-- trial and error? Sitting down and talking it out? (Or talking around it?) They are all such strong personalities-- what kept any two of them together through all the inevitable conflict?

As for Lily and Wolfe, they clearly size each other up over the table in "Some Buried Caesar" and both come away thinking they understand exactly what the other person wants/needs from Archie; were there assumptions either one made that were incorrect at the time? Or did they have a complete understanding of each other right from the start?

Other prompts:
- In the book "In the Best Families" Wolfe leaves letters for his household before he goes off on his solo quest to defeat a crime boss; what if he wrote a note to Lily as well? "In the Best Families" also adds a new dimension to Lily and Wolfe's relationship-- I would oh so happily read 1000 words of Wolfe, Archie and/or Lily just THINKING about That Thing That Happened.

So in 3x29 "Facets," Odo hosts Curzon's memories briefly as part of the zhian'tara/Trill rite of closure, and his changeling-ness makes it much more of a blending/merging than anyone was expecting. What if Curzon decided to actually stay with Odo and Jadzia had to re-arrange her personality and relationships again? How would Jadzia and Curzon-Odo get along as separate beings? Or what if Curzon went back to Jadzia but somehow ALSO stayed "copied" into Odo permanently, so they could both have the Curzon influence?

I would love any missing scene or expansion/continuation of this episode, or any episode tag where Jadzia and Odo discuss the memories & experiences they now share. (Also in the episode "Things Past" an outside influence causes Odo to use some kind of innate "morphogenic telepathic response" to pull 4 people into a memory/hallucination; what if this happened during the zhian'tara, or after it, with just Jadzia or with more characters?) Any moment from an AU version of a post-S3 episode -- how would it be different with Curzon-Odo and Jadzia without Curzon? ("Rejoined" comes so shortly after "Facets," for example! How would that episode be different if the last life Jadzia remembered, most vividly, wasn't Curzon but Torias? How would Curzon-Odo feel about Jadzia possibly being banished from Trill? Etc.)

fandom specific DNW: always hated that icky reveal that Curzon, an older man in a position of power, almost ruined a TEENAGE Jadzia's life because he couldn't handle his crush on her. Gross!!! Please just ignore that completely... or if you want to rewrite Curzon and Jadzia's interactions to be about *some other issue* that they have to get closure on as part of the Trill ritual, that would be amazing!

I also love for them to become friends or at least begrudging allies and for their relationship to keep being deeply intense and weird. Give me overwhelmingly personal conversations about their trauma, give me staring contests by campfire.
- Anders and Hawke's relationship compels me greatly, particularly in the friendship path but I'm not opposed to rivalry either. I love that Anders is very clearly into Hawke even if Hawke doesn't quite reciprocate and I love that Hawke is one of the very few people that listen to Anders about mage oppression in the friendship path. Give me heated discussions about mage rights, give me longing stares that may or may not mean anything, give me them living together after everything, on the run together, but not quite able to say what they are.
- Fenris and Hawke's dynamic is soooo tasty in both paths - Fenris' loyalty to Hawke, the sense of debt for them helping him when he needed it... I love for Fenris to be Hawke's attack dog and for there to be a strange undercurrent to it that neither of them can quite articulate.
- Anders, Fenris and Hawke make for a very tasty ambiguous love triangle. Anders thinks Fenris and Hawke are too close, Fenris hates how close Anders and Hawke are... Give me jealousy that could be passed off as rivalry, give me heated arguments, give me "less a man than a wild dog."
- The Hawkes! Very tasty weird/gencest vibes for these three. For Bethany and Carver I'd love for them to be so close, too close really, but not inappropriate enough to ring any alarm bells. And I love for Hawke to be sort-of a parent figure to them but not really? Like they're their older sibling, for sure, but also Something Else.
